Speyside Way Kit List

I’ve enjoyed reading other people’s kit lists – coming back to walking after many years they were useful in choosing new items and reassured me that I hadn’t missed anything important.

Cooking  Weight(g)
Stove MSR Windburner 430
Fantastically fast and efficient. Can comfortably manage 5 days boiling a litre morning and night on a small cartridge.
Fuel C100 cartridge 175
Cutlery MSR Folding Spork 10
Bowl Sea to Summit Xbowl 80
Filtration Water Filter (Sawyer Squeeze) 95
Filtration Sawyer Squeeze bag 36
Bladder Hydrapak ShapeShift 3L 152
Great replacement for my platypus, easy to fill and possible to remove from sack while leaving drinking tube in place.
Lighter Firesteel (Light My Fire Scout) 27
Food Storage Bags Ziplocks
Rucksack Atmos 65 AG (L) (150g rain cover incl.) 2120
Really comfortable, but it’s true, it does squeak! Only downside is that it’s heavy, but it doesn’t feel that way.
Shelter
Tent Tarptent Bowfin 1 1100
Great little shelter, lightweight, quick to pitch and decent in wind. Only downside is that due to the integrated ‘pitchlocs’ it packs into a rather long package.
Pegs Easton Stake 16cm x2 20
Pegs Groundhog 19cm x6 96
Pegs Mini Groundhog 15cm x6 60
Guylines MSR Long guy lines 25
Given the variety of ground conditions actually used most of the pegs at different times. It wasn’t windy enough for the guys.
Bedding
Pad Exped Synmat HL M Winter 431
Very comfortable and plenty warm enough. It is, though, quite narrow and not too long, so if you’re 6ft+ or anything other than slim I’d go for the wider version. Inflation and deflation very quick.
Pad Exped Stuff sack and repair kit 36
Pad Exped Snozzle Bag 58
Pillow Sea to Summit Aeros Ultralight Pillow Regular 56
Wouldn’t go anywhere without this, worth the tiny weight
Bag Marmot Pinnacle -9°C 1180
Clothing (in pack)
Shell Jacket Berghaus Light Trek 400
Shell Trousers Berghaus PacLite L 236
Sleep Merino top + trousers 400
Gloves Lowe Fleece

Warmth Montane Prism 429
I love this jacket, perfect for the evenings or any cooler moments or showers during the day.
